How to Assign Additional IP Addresses to Your VPS

Overview When you purchase a VPS from SwissLayer, your first IP address is automatically assigned and configured on the virtual machine. However, if you have purchased additional IP addresses, these must be manually assigned to your VM through the Client Area before they become available for use.
This guide walks you through the process of assigning those additional IPs from your SwissLayer control panel.
Prerequisites
An active VPS service with SwissLayer.
One or more additional IP addresses purchased for that VPS.
Step 1 — Log in and Navigate to Your VPS Service Log in to the SwissLayer Client Area at: https://support.swisslayer.com/index.php?/clientarea/ Once logged in, go to Services in the left sidebar and select your VPS from the list under Enterprise Linux Virtual Servers.
Step 2 — Open the Network Interfaces Page On the server details page, look at the left-hand menu and expand the Network section. Click on Interfaces, then click on the existing network interface (e.g., net0) to edit it.
*****Important: Edit the existing interface — do not create a new one.*****
Step 3 — Assign the Additional IP On the Network Interfaces page, you will see your currently assigned IP address listed under IP v4 addresses. If you have purchased additional IPs, the Assign new IP button will be available. Click Assign new IP to add the purchased IP to the interface. Click Save Changes to apply.
Step 4 — Configure the IP on Your Server Once saved, the additional IP is assigned at the hypervisor level and associated with your VM.
You can now configure it inside your operating system as needed (e.g., adding it as a secondary address on your network interface via Netplan, /etc/network/interfaces, or your preferred method).

Q: Do I need to reboot my VPS after assigning the IP? A: A reboot is generally not required at the panel level, but you may need to restart networking services inside your OS after configuring the new IP.
